I am a transplant from Tennessee. I moved to Utah with my husband and pup to pursue my passion for Functional Medicine and holistic wellness. I earned my first degree in Kinesiology at The University of Tennessee (UT) in Knoxville, Tennessee. I learned throughout that time that I had a passion for the patient-centered approach to nursing education and decided to go back to nursing school to eventually became a Family Nurse Practitioner. During my undergraduate education, I spent time researching exercise and nutrition, specifically in the workplace. Based on that research, my academic learning, and personal experience, I knew then that I wanted to incorporate lifestyle factors and other remedies into my practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UT, I worked in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum care. My specialty was caring for women and their families choosing natural labor and breastfeeding. I loved spending time with the families, coaching them through labor, meeting their needs and requests to make that time both safe and special for them.
I later started my master’s program at UT and worked during that time in a women’s unit caring for gynecological surgery patients, antepartum women with complications, oncology patients, and postpartum families. I also taught classes at community centers and my church about lifestyle management options including exercise and nutrition for chronic disease treatment and prevention.
On a personal note, I love creative activities like calligraphy and interior design. I also love being outdoors. I am excited to help my patients here at Healthy Living Family Medical improve their quality of life and enjoy the things they love with the people they love!
