About Healthy Living Family Medical
Healthy Living Family Medical is a unique family practice. We provide the usual care you would expect at a family practice, but also specialize in finding the causes of disease conditions. Our team of medical professionals are proud to look at all aspects of medicine to make sure you get the care you need. Whether you’re struggling with a chronic condition or are just not feeling well, we’re the care providers that you need.
All our practitioners will spend extended time with each patient, taking the time to listen to their histories and considering their interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Our approach is systems-oriented and engages both the patient and the practitioner in a partnership to deliver your care.
About Healthy Living Family Medical and Hormone Therapy
A hormonal imbalance can have a big effect on your health, whether you’re male or female. We offer treatments that help to balance your hormones and improve the way that you feel. We have multiple plans for hormone treatments available for both men and women. To determine the best approach for you, consult with our practitioners.
As you get older, your hormone levels can decline and get out of balance. A decrease or increase in your hormones can make you feel less energetic, but you don’t need to just accept this change as part of getting older. We think you shouldn’t suffer just because you’re aging.
Additional Information About Hormone Therapy
There are many symptoms that suggest you may be suffering from a hormone imbalance. These symptoms include:
- Brain fog
- Dry skin
- Decreased muscle mass
- Anxiety
- Low sexual desire
- Headaches
- Depression
- Fatigue
- Low energy
These symptoms may be caused by either a hormonal imbalance or low hormones. At Healthy Living Medical, we offer several different hormone treatment plans that are suitable or both men and women. Talk to our practitioners to find out what approach might be the most appropriate for you.
One of the treatments available is Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, also known as BHRT. BHRT uses pellets, which are a little larger than a grain of rice and are made to be quickly and painlessly inserted under the skin. Once in position, the pellet releases a steady, natural dose of hormones directly to where to the hormones are needed most. The hormones used are plant-based compounds, formulated specifically to match the molecular structure of human hormones. The bonus of this treatment is that the pellet works for three to six months, and you get treatment without having to remember to take pills or apply a cream.
The disadvantage of treating hormonal imbalances with creams, pills, or patches is that many patients find that their hormone treatment can cause side-effects over the time of their treatment. Using a non-pellet treatment method can cause an irregular amount of dosing, which can make the hormonal problem more difficult, instead of better.
Pellets deliver a steady and measured dose of the hormones that your body is in need of, and only delivers them when you need them. This keeps things more balanced, instead of accidentally creating a rollercoaster effect with your hormones.
We can also offer prescriptions for testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen. Alongside prescriptions, we also use supplements which help to naturally balance hormones. All options are discussed with our medical practitioners, who have been trained in all aspects of hormone therapy to find a solution that has been customized to suit your needs.
Hormone levels are determined by testing blood and urine, and the results are then used to decide the best approach to balance your hormones. Once balance has been restored, many patients get results including:
- Restored or increased sexual desire
- Consistency in moods
- Relief from anxiety and depression
- Increased mental clarity, focus and memory
- Reduced body fat and improved muscle mass
- Improved energy and restorative sleep
For some patients, the best approach is the DUTCH test. DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. This test has an additional cost and needs a separate visit to your healthcare practitioner to interpret the results.
When you visit us for help with a hormonal imbalance, we test for DHEA, Estrogen, Estrone, Estradiol, Cortisol, Insulin, Testosterone, and Progesterone, among others. Some of our treatments and tests are covered by insurance. Check with your healthcare insurance provider to find out if you are covered. The DUTCH test costs $350, and is covered by some insurers. However, hormone pellets are not covered by insurance.
