About Healthy Living Family Medical and Thyroid
If you think you have a thyroid issue, you can call us today for a complete and comprehensive analysis to help you find the cause of the problem and develop a plan for care to help you recover.
We treat both hypothyroidism and hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid gland, is where your thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is caused by the immune system attacking the thyroid gland. This makes it swell and become damaged. As the thyroid is destroyed over time, it becomes unable to produce enough thyroid hormone.
Additional Information About Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is actually an auto-immune disorder where your body creates and sends antibodies that then attack your thyroid. Hashimoto’s is the most common thyroid condition in the US. Symptoms of these conditions include:
- Weight gain
- Dry hair
- Cold sensitivity
- Thinning air
- Fertility problems
- Difficulty concentrating
- Muscle aches and stiffness
An underactive thyroid will present with similar symptoms, but you may also experience:
- Slow movements and thoughts
- Muscle weakness
- Muscle cramps
- Dry and scaly skin
- Brittle hair and nails
- Pain, numbness, and a tingling sensation in the hands and fingers
- Irregular or heavy periods
In eldery people, an underactive thyroid can develop memory problems and depression. Children may experience slower growth and development, while teenagers may start puberty earlier than normal. If left untreated, you may experience other symptoms including a low pitched or hoarse voice, a puffy-looking face, thinning or partly missing eyebrows, a slow heart rate, hearing loss, or anaemia.
An underactive thyroid can is caused when your thyroid gland does not produce enough of the hormone thyroxine (also known as T4). Many of the patients that we help are experiencing these symptoms, but have no idea that the cause of them problem is rooted with the thyroid. What we can offer is an answer to your worries caused by these unexplained symptoms.
If you have been experiencing any of these symptoms and don’t know why, or suspect that you might have a problem with your thyroid, then you should call us today for a complete and comprehensive analysis. Get the answers to give you peace of mind on why you are experiencing these kinds of symptoms. We will build you a health plan to heal the root cause of the problem and eliminate the symptoms in order to restore you to full health.
When they first come to see us, our patients receive a Bio Meridian Scan. Next, your healthcare practitioner will order a full thyroid panel which most thyroid patients will never have had if they were treated somewhere else. Lastly, we use tighter tolerances for what we consider to be low thyroid, and prescribe and adjust medication for your treatment. This means you won’t have to live with a condition that other clinics might not treat.
If you’re not comfortable with prescription medication, there are many options for natural supplements that we can offer instead. We can also suggest foods that will support the thyroid and promote the conversion of T3 and T4. Depending on your specific cognition, we will discuss these alternative options as part of thyroid treatment, and decide with you which method of treatment is likely to be the most effective for you, and which you are most comfortable with. We can combine these methods for a tailored treatment plan that is the best option for you and your needs.
Our past patients report that we take the time to listen and answer any questions that you may have about your thyroid. We are very proficient and can give you answers much faster than other clinics.
